Billy – Joseph Harrington
Michael – Cameron
Debbie – The Girl Who Played Debbie
I am not going to go into a lot of detail about Billy. You have all seen my reviews and know what I like and what I don’t like. But today I did see a new Billy, a new Michael and a new Debbie: Joseph Harrington, Cameron something, and the girl who played Debbie.
All of them were great. Their lines were delivered well and clearly. I really liked that. Joseph is a good actor and singer; he is young and needs some strength in his Electricity and Angry Dance, but his Dream Ballet was really very good – one of the best I have seen in a while.
Cameron is a wonderful young and tiny Michael. He would fit in the average carry-on bag. And he is very, very loud. Which is great, except in a couple of scenes where he needs to tone it down, such as the tender moments of the Winter Scene and when he says goodbye to Billy in the end. But he is only a month into it, and he has great promise.
I usually do not comment on the Debbies, but this one, whatever her name is, was very good. Nice line delivery, clear and well timed. Good acting. Lots of fun to watch
My biggest kudos go to Emily Skinner and Greg Jbara. That these two continue to grow into their roles is amazing.
I thought Emily’s acting in The Letter was top notch and I really appreciated it. In fact, her performance all along is so much better. It was a joy to watch.
So many of you have seen my criticisms of Greg. Well I take back anythign I ever said except the constructive stuff. LOL I loved the changes Greg has made to his role. He has developed it into something wonderful. Deep Into The Ground and the Winter Scene with Mrs. W. were both especially well done.
Some things I have never noticed before (or that have changed):
When dad says he is going to sing the folk song, I heard Billy say, “Oh crap.”
And there was this very cool but new, to me, jumping thing at the very end of the finale that the cast does. Never saw that before. They say something when they do it. And apparently I am the only one who noticed this among my friends.
Also, Mr. W. no longer answers the door. Mrs. W. did tonight.
So many parts of this show seemed like something new. It was great, and I guess that is why we come back again and again.
The audience was great, too, with a bunch of young people in the balcony having the time of their lives. Lively and very supportive. I hope Thommie rated us well.
