Seeing this show is very nostalgic for me. I remember it from my childhood, the music from it was around my house. My dad, a businessman in a large company, related to the show, and in fact used at least one gimmick from the show, the launch of a small rocket, in one of his sales presentations. I thought of my parents several times during the show, bittersweet memories.

So I knew a lot of the music, and remember Robert Morse from the movie version.
I was fully prepared to be let down by this new production.
I WAS NOT!
In short, this was a GREAT SHOW! There is so much life and fun and laughter in this show. No downers in it. Just a kind of naive lightheartedness that hearkens back to the early 60s when the world was so full of optimism.
The set design seemed to combine the best of minimalist and big production. It was lively, colorful and masterfully designed. That alone was worth seeing.
The set was augmented by great, colorful lighting that really made this show pop!
The choreography was quite good, bordering on excellent. Again, just a lot of nice moves and done well. Even some tap-dancing secretaries in high heels.
Okay, so let’s get to the heart of it. Daniel Radcliffe was beyond amazing! His acting was top notch, his dancing was great, his performance was just about perfect, and I loved his singing as much as the Robert Morse version I have been accustomed to all my life. He might need a little more strength in a few spots, but who cares. It was awesome.
This show was absolutely top notch, and we had a really fun audience which made it even better. Even Liza Minnelli, one row in front of me and about 9 seats to the left, seemed to like it.
John Laroquette was also quite good, and the rest of the cast was wonderful as well.
Yeah, sorry, but again – THIS WAS GREAT!

After the show Daniel and John did their pitch for BC/EFA. Of course, Daniel used is normal speaking voice, to which John commented: “You’re British?” Great laugh! Anyway, there was a very lively auction for the bow-tie that Daniel wore tonight. The final bid was $1500. What fun, and the audience had a ball.

So I have used up my superlative allotment for the night.
See ya!
