UDLC – Day Three: Morning – Rain! Rain!

Good morning, from New York City.
I have to report that my room #3 (not to be confused with my room number, which is 803) at the RCA has turned out to be a winner. Very happy, though I think the guy at the front desk, who yesterday told me there were no rooms on the street side except for 204, now hates me after he came in this morning to find that I am in 803. Maybe it is my imagination, but he keeps looking at me funny!
UPDATE: The guy in the lobby smiled and we shared a laugh together. I suspect tonight while I am in the shower I shall be killed by a hundred stab wounds.

So this morning dawned gloomy, but was brightened by a nice breakfast at GUESS WHERE with my friend JJF. However, pirates killed my lemon.

This was followed by a trip to what is arguably the most valuable piece of land a Walgreen’s sits on: Times Square. Jon’s back was giving him trouble, so after several exchanged text messages with Almost Dr. Trev, we settled on a box of Tylenol, which I had suggested 20 minutes earlier. Trev suggested a dosage of no more than 2grams in a 24 hour period. Oddly enough, this is also what the bottle says. Why the hell does it take so long to become a doctor, again?

Well, then we decided to go along 5th Avenue, which it then decided to rain like a son-of-a-bitch, which is also when I discovered that my beloved London Fog jacket seems to have lost its waterproof qualities. This did not stop our determination to find, first, to find Nat Sherman Tobaccos – where I bought a most exquisite lighter, and then, the Apple Store. Okay, about 10 blocks or so from the Apple store we gave up, went to our respective hotel rooms to change into dryer togs, and gathered again for lunch.

Lunch, today, was quite an unexpected treat. JJF had heard about the Cranberry Cafem a deli bext to the HOtel St. James on 45th that comes highly recommended (except for the sushi, he read). This place lived up to its reputation. Good food, good prices, very nice. It has a wide variety of hot foods, salad options, pizza, and traditional deli fare.

Sadly, no amount of good food could help JJF’s back, so he retired to his room for an evening of R&R, and I am in my hotel, letting my jacket dry and getting caught up until it is time for me to go do a lotto thing for Linda, and then on to Wicked!
More later.
